Mermaid-Inspired Styled Shoot at Sentosa Singapore

Gerald and Zhi Xin wanted a unique and highly memorable pre-wedding photography shoot in Singapore. As avid Disney fans, it was no wonder that they asked for a mermaid-inspired theme shoot. Asked why of all the Disney themes, they chose this theme and their answer was simple: “It’s romantic.”

To say the truth, it was pretty much a challenge for us when we got to know the theme the couple had chosen. We wanted elements of the sea and shipwreck to be incorporated, but nothing else too cliché. The below pictures will speak of our interpretation of it!

The couple particularly loved our wooden raft which we built from scratch using eco-friendly materials. It had a simple white sail, a vintage treasure chest, an old-style candle holder, and a whimsical touch of fresh fuchia and white flowers with green sprigs and foliage.

Pre-wedding photography in Singapore is always exciting as it reflects a few of the couple’s intimate and romantic wishes and capturing their sentiments of being on the brink of something wonderful.

Other details to the pre-wedding photography session included the use of seaweed, a white fishing net, shells, more treasure chests, and a drift log to delicately emphasize the mermaid theme without going overboard. Also thoughtfully done were the stone place cards, gold-plated dishes, utensils, and goblets.

We loved creating this particular pre-wedding photography theme and as always, we made it a point to keep the focus on the couple and not on the props.

We make sure that whatever we do to create a theme, we never allow it to overpower the stars of the photo shoot: the couple.

Our efforts proved to be successful as the end result was a breathtaking blend of love, life, romance, and fantasy in the middle of modern Singapore.

Alice In Wonderland Themed Wedding Shoot

Looking for wedding theme ideas for your upcoming nuptial? Then you can’t miss this whimsical Alice in Wonderland themed styled shoot we did in collaboration with some of the most talented wedding vendors in Singapore for Ideal Wedding‘s launch issue (Well, we are a little late on this as they are already going to be having their second issue soon. But hey, it’s better late than never right)!

Set in the most beautiful backdrop at Fort Canning Park, our first photo shoot set-up was inspired by none other than the Alice in Wonderland tea party scene that I am sure everyone is familiar with. We even had the honour of having the most precious white bunny gracing the photo shoot! It is a REAL bunny in case you are wondering.

With the ‘giant props’ that Phillane from Med Karlek crafted, Alice became tiny in our second scene. How whimsical is this set-up, with the giant log backdrop that we found at Fort Canning!

Take a look at the BTS snippet!

Hope you managed to get some ideas out of our humble styled shoot above for your wedding especially if you are doing one that is Alice in Wonderland inspired!

Garden Wedding in Singapore

Awhile ago, we ganged up with a few wedding vendors in Singapore to do a styled shoot.

We aspired to to create a portfolio for couples planning a wedding here in Singapore and decided on the theme “Classic European Romance”. We aimed to capture the elegance of a bygone era in this styled shoot. Below is one of the three looks we styled – enjoy!

We thought that the marvellous contrasts between the classic Victorian indoor decors and the refreshing outdoor background will provide an inspiration that’s dramatic and picturesque at the same time, so we set up some intricately-designed vintage pieces against the lush greeneries background. The dark chocolate ganache with gold trimmings added drama to the setting, and to bolster the luxurious impressions we’ve thrown in some purple accents. Some garden roses, which are quite popular during the Victorian era, also adorned the set. The result is just sensational!
